Abbeycare was created in 2007 out of necessity and an off the cuff remark. While trying to find care for a relative who suffered with a complex health need and becoming increasingly frustrated someone said “You should do this yourself, you know what is needed and you have lived and experienced caring for somebody” and that is where it all began with one service user and five staff .
The vision of the owners was not to be a run of the mill agency, they wanted to provide opportunities for individuals with complex health needs and allow service users to live a safe and independent life style in a setting of their choice.
Since 2007 Abbeycare has continued to develop and now employs over 80 staff across Sheffield. We provide home care from between 1 to 24 hours a day, we have four supported living properties and disabled accessible transport. In addition to this we also have a charitable side of the organisation which provides disabled accessible holiday accommodation and a day service.
